Product Overview
Nano101 is a benchtop nanoparticle size analyzer using dynamic light scattering (DLS) to measure hydrodynamic particle diameter and size distribution in nanoparticle dispersions, colloids and emulsions. A 532 nm laser illuminates the sample, while a photomultiplier tube collects scattered light at 90°. The PC software processes the signal to report particle size and PDI for quality control and research.
Key Features
- High-sensitivity PMT detects scattered-light intensity fluctuations from particles undergoing Brownian motion.
- Non-invasive DLS measurement characterizes particles dispersed in liquid without mechanically disturbing the sample during optical measurement.
- Semiconductor thermostatic control provides ±0.1°C temperature accuracy over a 0–90°C set range.
- Sample-chamber temperature pre-equilibration helps organize consecutive measurements.
- PC software displays particle size distributions and PDI in real time.
- A 1–4 mL sample volume and a specified test time below 3 minutes support routine laboratory workflows.
- USB-to-Type-C connection, supplied operating videos and Chinese/English language switching support instrument setup and use.
Applications
- Ceramics and inorganic powders: particle size assessment of dispersed ceramic raw materials, calcium carbonate, kaolin, silica and titanium dioxide.
- Fine chemicals: coatings, dyes, pigments, fillers, catalysts, inks and other colloidal or dispersed materials.
- Food and agrochemicals: particle size quality control for food ingredients, additives, emulsions and pesticide dispersions.
- Pharmaceutical and biological research: particle-state analysis of preparations, proteins and other supported dispersed samples.
- Industrial materials: particle size and distribution studies of abrasives, lubricants, coal powder, sediment and dust after suitable dispersion.

Measurement Principle
Particles suspended in liquid undergo Brownian motion, producing fluctuations in scattered-light intensity. Photon correlation analysis converts these fluctuations into diffusion information, and the Stokes–Einstein relationship is used to calculate hydrodynamic diameter. Sample dispersion, concentration and temperature affect the measurement, so the stated size and concentration ranges are sample-dependent.
Operation and Support
Use a suitable liquid dispersion and load 1–4 mL into the specified sample cell. Set the measurement temperature and allow the sample chamber to equilibrate. Connect the analyzer to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer, run the supplied software and review the size distribution and PDI. The ≤1% accuracy and repeatability specifications apply to the D50 value of a standard sample.
