1. Soil aggregate structure plays a crucial role in soil fertility. A good aggregate structure generally possesses three properties: a certain size (too large or too small is detrimental to forming an appropriate porosity); multi-level porosity (large pores allow for air and water permeability, while small pores retain water and fertilizer); and a certain degree of stability, namely water stability, mechanical stability, and biological stability. Good aggregate structure is the foundation of soil fertility. The relationship between aggregate structure and soil fertility is mainly reflected in the following aspects: regulating the imbalance between soil moisture and air; coordinating the imbalance between soil nutrient consumption and accumulation; stabilizing soil temperature and regulating soil thermal conditions; and improving soil tilth, which is beneficial for crop root extension. The soil aggregate analyzer is suitable for the analysis of aggregates in soil, environmental, and geological laboratories.
2. Method Principle: After dry sieving of air-dried samples, the particle distribution under a certain mechanical stability is determined. Then, the particle distribution obtained by dry sieving is mixed in appropriate proportions and wetted in water to determine the quantity and distribution of water-stable macroaggregates.

1. Soil Aggregates: The sum of aggregates of different sizes, shapes, porosities, mechanical stability, and water stability contained in soil. It consists of native soil particles linked together by the aggregation, cementation, and adhesion of colloids.
2. Soil Macroaggregates: Aggregates in soil with a diameter of 0.25 mm to 10 μm are called soil macroaggregates.
3. Water-Stable Soil Macroaggregates: Large aggregates of soil particles cemented together by calcium, magnesium, organic matter, mycelia, etc., that do not easily disintegrate when shaken, soaked, or washed in water, and retain their original structure.
