Instrument introduction
The plant stem flow meter uses the heat dissipation probe method to measure the instantaneous stem flow density of the trunk. It can continuously observe the sap flow of trees for a long time, which is conducive to studying the law of water exchange between trees and the atmosphere, and using this as an observation method to monitor the impact of forest ecosystems on environmental changes in the long term. It has important theoretical guidance and application value for afforestation, forest management and forestry management.
Working principle
The plant stem flow meter adopts a new method for measuring Sap Flow invented by French scholar Granier after the 1980s, namely the heat dissipation probe method (constant heat flow sensor method). The data acquisition of this method is accurate and stable, and the data can be read continuously and uninterruptedly, so the data is systematic. The measurement system consists of a pair of 33mm long heat dissipation probes. When installing, the probes are inserted into the sapwood of the tree 10cm-15cm apart. The upper probe is wrapped with a resistance wire and heated by direct current. The lower probe is not heated and keeps the same temperature as the surrounding sapwood tissue. The temperature difference between the two probes reflects the sap flow density of the tree.
