Product Overview

The HM Instruments HM-YW liquid particle counter uses light obscuration to measure the size and number of solid particles in compatible low-viscosity liquids. A semiconductor laser and syringe-pump sampling system support particle analysis with configurable sample volumes and channel thresholds.

The instrument combines particle counting, contamination grading and cleaning monitoring with Windows-based record management. Select the calibration basis, particle-size thresholds and sample conditions to match the laboratory procedure.

Key Features

  • Laser sensing measures particle size and count in compatible low-viscosity liquids.

  • High-pressure syringe-pump sampling allows the sample volume to be set, with controlled delivery speed.

  • Multiple calibration curves and named custom standards support different test and grading requirements.

  • Up to 64 detection channels can be configured simultaneously; the built-in analysis system reports test data and contamination grades for configured standards.

  • Cleaning monitoring displays particle concentration in real time and stops automatically when the preset target is reached.

  • A height-adjustable sensor arrangement accommodates different sampling containers.

  • Manual, automatic and half-count calibration modes, with particle-size distribution curves, support setup and analysis.

  • Windows software provides a database searchable by standard, sample name, batch number, operator and test time.

  • Audit trails, graded account permissions and digital signatures support record management.

  • One control system supports multiple sensor settings, with software installation options for a tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

  • Barcode-scanner input, compatible printers, PDF and Excel export, USB and Wi-Fi transfer support laboratory data handling.

Applications

The product documentation lists low-viscosity oil contamination analysis, cleanliness assessment of precision components, particle testing in chemical reagents and cleaning agents, and particle measurement in purified liquids and ultrapure water. Listed industries include aerospace, power and semiconductor manufacturing, petrochemicals and automotive manufacturing.

Confirm the liquid composition, viscosity, sample preparation and sensor compatibility before testing. Sample viscosity must remain within the specified 100 cSt limit.

Sensitivity depends on the selected calibration basis. The µm and µm(c) values refer to different calibration conventions and should not be treated as interchangeable. The cited standards describe the calibration basis in the product documentation; they are not a claim of independent product certification.

Operation and Support

Configure the applicable calibration curve, particle-size channels, sampling volume and flow rate for the sample and test method. For cleaning monitoring, set the required particle-concentration target before starting. Review the particle-size distribution, results and contamination grade after testing.

Database capacity depends on the available computer storage. Confirm the supplied computer, sensor configuration, printer, barcode scanner and other accessories when requesting a quotation; software compatibility does not mean every device is included.

For regulated workflows, confirm the installed software functions and validation documentation against your laboratory requirements.
